June 19, 2023 is the 3rd yearly observation of Juneteenth. The government vacation commemorates June 19, 1865, when the enslaved individuals in Galveston, Texas, learned of their emancipation 2 years after Head of state Lincoln authorized the Emancipation Proclamation.
Although Juneteenth has recently become more extensively recognized, the day has lengthy been a deeply spiritual time of remembrance and party for the Black community.
The Black community still struggles with pain and inequity
Throughout the nation, African Americans have rejoiced with fireworks and cookouts, drinking red beverages - a nod to ancestors' bloodshed and endurance."We understand the scaries that we experienced," described Kleaver Cruz, author of the forthcoming book "The Black Happiness Project" and designer of an electronic campaign of the same name. "It is constantly concurrent: the happiness and the discomfort. We use one to survive the various other."

"Those that came before us were literally free but were incapable to gain comfortable earnings or receive an education and learning without its share of defeating challenges," said Marsha Barnes, Owner of The Finance Bar.
